What to know before your first Brazilian wax

Say buh-bye to those pesky ingrown hairs and hello to the smooth side!! Ready to take the steps to booking your first Brazilian wax? We are here to help. Here are a few things to keep in mind before booking your appointment.

Booking Your Appointment

Before booking your first brazilian wax there are few things to keep in mind. Hair growth is essential to waxing. Allow 2-4 weeks for your hair to grow for maximum results when waxing. The hair should be as long or longer than a grain of rice. The longer the better. If you are booking online, make sure you book your first brazilian as a “Virgin Brazilian” This is very important. This will give your qaxing specialist more time to walk you through the steps and make sure you leave silky smooth. A virgin brazilian can take anywhere between 15-30 minutes.

Prepping for your Brazilian

Leading up to the week of your appointment you will want to do a few preparations to get ready for your brazilian wax. 24 hours before your appointment you will want to exfoliate to remove all dead skin cells. This will allow your skin to have an even, cleaner wax. Pain tolerance varies from person to person when it comes to waxing, so 20-30 minutes before your appointment you may take Ibuprofen to ease the pain. Body & Brow also offers a numbing cream called No Scream Cream. Pick this up at the store before your appointment and apply it 30-40 minutes prior to your beginning service time. We also suggest using an oil or lotion to keep the area you intend to wax moisturized. A moisturized hair follicle will be less painful and help us remove the entire bulb – leaving you smooth!

After your Brazilian

The steps leading up to your appointment are important but aftercare is just as important! After any waxing appointment you will want to limit excessive sweating & chlorinated pool/hot tubs for 24 hours. This will help prevent folliclitus (inflammation of your follicles) which can lead painful bumps… no one wants that!

Wondering when you should rebook for your maintenance brazilian? We suggest every 4-6 weeks. In Between each appointment, you will want to exfoliate at least 2-3 times a week. This will help prevent ingrown hairs & get rid of dead skin cells. Another thing to remember is NO SHAVING! Not shaving is very essential for maximum results of waxing. Shaving in between waxing can cause irritation, ingrown hairs, and hair to grow back coarser making it harder to remove when waxing, OUCH!

STAY SMOOTH THIS SUMMER AND HAPPY WAXING!
